Workshop #7 – Basic Sewing 101 : Tote Bag
April 28, 2018 @ 2:00 PM - 5:00 PMRM130.00
Instructor : Farzaana (F.A.R Blankets) & Azzah (Sewfabby)
If you have an interest to sew but don’t have the guts to take the first step to press that sewing machine pedal, this class is for you. Farzaana of FAR Blankets and Azzah of Sewfabby has prepared a Basic 101 Sewing workshop for those with zero knowledge on setting up your sewing machine. Learn how to thread the machine, wind your first bobbin and get first hand tips on making sure you get a good straight stitch. By the end of this workshop, you’ll bring home your own tote bag. Who knows you might even book your first sewing machine at our bazaar right after the workshop. Places are limited for this popular workshop!
Note : Students are required to bring their own half yard (50 cm / 18 in) printed fabrics for this workshop. Fabrics can be purchased from the Bazaar at the event.
Azzah Abdul Kadir, or more popularly known as Sew Fabby, started sewing as a hobby in 2008. She then turned to full time sewist in 2013, taking orders for tote bags & towel embroidery. Armed with years of sewing and embroidery experience, she never fails to inject a little bit of her charm into her hand crafts. Currently Sew Fabby is focusing on personalized embroidery on towels & pillows. Other than that Azzah also conducts embroidery classes around the Klang Valley.
Azzah’s media appearances include sewing demos on Assalamualaikum by TV Alhijrah, Safiyya by TV9, interviews on TV9, write ups on Kosmo newspaper as well as FEMALE magazine. Azzah can be found on Instagram at @sewfabby and facebook (www.facebook.com/sewfabby)
Farzaana Abd. Rahman who hails from KL, is the founder and maker behind F.A.R Blankets. Specializing in blankets and pillows, she confesses that the vibrant modern textile prints are what inspired her to create beddings and personalized blankets. Farzaana started out making baby booties, but it was from that admiration for fabric prints that lead her to creating custom blankets. As blankets have a larger surface, it was through this that she could share her love for her favorite prints and color combos.
Learning to sew came from her own determination to learn a life. Ever since she was young, Farzaana just loves cutting and piecing things together, now she can be seen expanding her bedding line at @f.a.r_blankets.
